From Forest Floor to the Treetops: an Introduction to Maryland Birds

Natural History Society of Maryland logoThe Baltimore Bird Club and the Natural History Society of Maryland present this about  program the behavior, characteristics, and ecology of birds, filmed in the Maryland area. Discover birds found at

different forest levels — ground floor, shrub layer, understory, and canopy. Examine the human impact on birds and measures needed to reverse their decline. This interactive and engaging workshop will also include the opportunity to identify birds shown on video clips using field guides.

Join us in person (spaces are limited) at the Natural History Society of Maryland’s Museum in Overlea or join online via Zoom. While this opportunity is free, spaces are limited for the in-person option.

Presenter: Marty Brazeau, Baltimore Bird Club member (BBC), is a retired Baltimore County School Librarian and is currently an Academic Advisor at the Community College of Baltimore County. Marty has birded in the Baltimore area since childhood and has served as the BBC Youth Birding Leader and the Junior Naturalist Coordinator at Oregon Ridge Park. He has completed a master’s degree in Outdoor Education. Marty has visited Costa Rica nine times to film birds.

COVID protocols will be in place for in-person option for this event.
