milkweed with monarch butterfly

Natural History Society of Maryland logoPresented by Natural History Society of Maryland, at this online and in-person event you will hear from lepidopterology expert Robert Gardner. He will help you get a better understanding of the scope and breadth of butterflies through his personal collections, tell you where you might find them, and answer questions. As is typical for this time of year, the meeting will include a caterpillar and plant swap. Bring some to share.

There are around 17,500 species of butterflies in the world, 750 species in the United States, and  Maryland plays home to over 150 species of butterflies and skippers.

NOTE: This meeting will be hybrid meaning you may attend in person at the museum  – 6908 Belair Road, Baltimore – or tune in online via Zoom. Please select your preference when checking out.
