Weeding at Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library
Volunteers needed to continue pulling wire grass throughout the property. Library staff will provide water bottles, sunscreen, bug spray and collapsible chairs if needed, along with5-gallon buckets, 30-gallon yard waste bags, large shovels, rakes and access to wheelbarrows. Bring your own hand tools and kneeling pads. Contact Lara Jeffries for more information.

Kick off the weekend with the great feeling that comes with doing good and important work! Join Jug Bay Field Work Fridays every Friday rain or shine. Volunteers join staff naturalists to tackle a stewardship project in need of support. Projects include invasive plant removals, trash clean-ups, gardening, citizen science monitoring, and more. Join Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary's Stream Water Chemistry volunteer team to conduct field tests on dissolved oxygen content, and other parameters, at important streams feeding Jug Bay. Water samples are also collected for lab analysis. This is a great way to learn how to use professional equipment, see the park, and become involved in habitat monitoring efforts. Free. Must be 18 to volunteer without a guardian. Current health guidelines and registration required. More information and to register.

Those vines that are climbing so many trees along our streets and in forests are NOT good. All the trees you see with ivy vines climbing up their trunks are slowly dying because the ivy steals their water and nutrients, rots their bark, can cause them to topple, and can block their sunlight. We need lots of healthy trees to hold carbon and provide us with oxygen. The only safe way to stop this infestation is with some manual labor…
