Kayak Adventure Paddle: Cruise then Brews – Mallows Bay & Calvert Brewing
Join Capital SUP for a paddle in one of the most interesting places to kayak, the Mallows Bay Marine Sanctuary. See the “ghost fleet” and how nearly 200 sunken ships have become have become habitat for many types of wildlife. The paddle will be led by Jack Wildlife. Free Guided Tour: Discover Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary
Join a Jug Bay Naturalist for a free guided tour of the wetland boardwalk to discover the wonderful and unique plants and animals found here at the Sanctuary. Tour is 45 minutes in length and is free with the $6 per vehicle entrance fee. No registration required. Meet outside the Jug Bay Visitor Center promptly at 1pm. Join an avid Jug Bay birder to learn skills for identifying birds by sight and sound. Novice and experienced birders are welcome on this 2-3 mile walk to explore the forests and wetlands in search of the 250+ species of birds that call Jug Bay home, or migrate through. SERC Maryland Day Celebration
On Maryland Day weekend, come visit SERC for hiking all weekend and explore the Smithsonian in Your Backyard! Visit the oldest building in the Smithsonian still in the original location, at the Woodlawn History Center, open 10am-2pm, with a weekend architectural tour of the house. Also on the weekend, SERC science docents will have short science talks at several interpretive stations near the Reed Education Center and the Rhode River. Learn more.
