Fishing on the Severn
April 18, 2023 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Severn River Association presents Shawn Kimbro, angler, environmentalist, author, in this installment of the John Wright Speaker Series.
Sometimes the best fishing spots are the ones closest to home. Shawn will explain some of his proven techniques for catching species like perch, pickerel, bluefish, and rockfish in the Severn River. He’ll also provide some advice about how to keep our fisheries healthy so they can be enjoyed by future generations.
Shawn Kimbro is a life-long angler and the author of three popular fishing books. His books are instructional and inspirational with a strong emphasis on environmentalism and ethical fishing. A frequent speaker to fishing clubs, conservation groups, and environmental organizations, he is recognized across the Chesapeake region as a leading voice for stewardship within the fishing community.
His innovative and conservation-oriented techniques for both fly and light tackle fishing have been featured in the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, Annapolis Capital, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, Angler’s Journal, Field & Stream, Saltwater Sportsman, and many other publications. His how-to fishing videos have garnered over a million views on YouTube and on other social media outlets. He actively serves on the board for the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and the Coastal Conservation Association. He is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Fisheries Management Council’s Shad and River Herring Advisory Committee. When he isn’t fishing, he is the administrative director of the Sleep Medicine program at George Washington University.
