ELVIA HERNÁNDEZ THOMPSON, CO-FOUNDER & PRESIDENT EMERITA
Elvia Thompson served as President of Annapolis Green through 2021 and is currently serving as advisor to the organization as needed. She has over 25 years of government experience at the Departments of Commerce and Defense, the Defense Intelligence Agency and NASA, as an analyst specializing in translating technical information into language understandable by the general public. A public relations professional, graphic artist and web designer, she ran a successful web and print design business, and she is author of numerous public interest articles, blogs and op-ed pieces. She produced and hosted a weekly, hour-long radio program in Annapolis, Living Green, from 2012 to 2017 and is an experienced public speaker comfortable on stage and before a camera. She has experience as a grant writer and grant administrator. Elvia has served on the boards of several organizations including the Annapolis Maritime Museum, the League of Conservation Voters Anne Arundel Chapter, the Back Creek Conservancy and the Spa Creek Conservancy. She is currently Board secretary of the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater DC and serves on the State of Maryland’s Zero Emission Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Council (ZEEVIC) and on the City of Annapolis’ Small Business Recovery Task Force. Elvia is a graduate of Leadership Anne Arundel and is a Master Watershed Steward. Her Master’s Degree is in Public Administration from Florida International University. Her undergraduate degree in Latin American Studies and Broadcast Journalism is from the University of Miami. Elvia is is recipient of the TWIN Award. She is a community activist who advocates for sustainable living with state and local governments, private organizations and the public. She is fluent in several languages and is an avid sailor.
Betty Davis, Board Treasurer
Betty Davis is a retired CPA. She retired as a partner at Ernst & Young, LLP. In her capacity at EY, Betty trained and mentored staff, pursued new business and focused on the financial reporting for real estate, leasing, and alternative energy transactions for public companies under SEC guidelines. Prior to joining EY in 1999, Betty was employed by an investment subsidiary of PEPCO for over 15 years, most recently as VP and controller. She was responsible for the company’s audited financial statements, and for compiling the company’s annual budget, five-year strategic plan, and was a voting member of the company’s investment committee. Betty graduated from the University of Maryland in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She resides in Crownsville with her husband, Jim. They have two daughters, Casey and Brennan.
Robert Agee
Robert “Bob” Agee, an International City Managers Association credentialed manager, has served in a number of government roles including City Administrator for the City of Annapolis, Assistant County Executive for Anne Arundel County, State Legislative Staff Analyst, Policy Development and Implementation Assistant to the Mayor, Policy Development and Implementation Assistant to Mayor, and State Legislative Staff Analyst. Bob served on numerous boards, commissions and organizations including Governor’s Wetlands Commission, Arts Council, Dredge Disposal Commission, Anne Arundel County Committee for Historic Trust, National Aggregates Association Board, and Thomas Point Lighthouse. Bob was instrumental in the development of the Annapolis Renewable Energy Park.
Julie Crudele
Julie Crudele is a fundraising and marketing professional with expertise in international development, environmental organizations and national nonprofits undertaking capital campaigns and ambitious fundraising efforts. She is a partner consultant with Capacity Partners, based in Bethesda, Maryland. Prior to that, she was the Vice President of Development and Communications at CEDPA, an international organization serving women and girls. Other positions include Executive Vice President of the Jane Goodall Institute and Vice President of Communications and Development at University Circle in Cleveland. Julie was President of the Board of the Friends of Quiet Waters Park, a board member of the National Bonsai Foundation at the National Arboretum, and Chair of Leadership Development and Nominating for Anne Arundel Women Giving Together. Julie is a graduate of Cleveland State University and earned two master’s degrees from Case Western Reserve University in International Health and Medical Anthropology.
Tim Hamilton
Tim Hamilton is Business and Marketing Manager for the Maryland Park Service, where he develops public-private partnerships to further the mission of 75 parks in the system. Since 2012, he has also been the owner of Shiny Object, LLC, a marketing and advertising agency that specializes in small to medium-sized businesses. Prior to that, Tim spent nine years as Marketing Director for Homestead Gardens, one of the largest garden centers in the United States. Tim has worked in media and marketing for 27 years, with a career that has spanned broadcast news, radio consulting, writing, market research, advertising, and brand development. He was an adjunct instructor at Saint Francis University in 2015 and 2017, where he taught Digital and Social Media Marketing at the 300 and 400 levels. Tim has presented to dozens of business and non-profit organizations to assist them in understanding and utilizing advertising, branding, event-based marketing, public relations, and social media to brand their services or products.
Tim has served on several boards of directors in the past and presently, including the Saint Francis University Alumni board for the past ten years as Marketing Chair, the East Coast Garden Center board for nine years as Marketing Chair, the Maryland Tourism Board, and the Historic London Town & Gardens.
Diane Holland
Diane Holland is an attorney, currently serving as Legal Advisor to a Commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). She previously served as Senior Advisor at the National Urban League’s Washington Bureau; and Vice President, Law and Policy at USTelecom, a Washington DC trade association. Prior to joining USTelecom, Diane served in multiple leadership roles at the FCC, including Deputy Associate General Counsel, Associate Bureau Chief, and Bureau Chief of Staff. Diane is a long-time champion for the environment, and has authored two children’s books: Easy to be Green (2010) and God is Green (2011). She also is a Master Watershed Steward in Anne Arundel County. Diane is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.S.), Howard University School of Law (J.D.), Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M.).
Sarah Schaffer
Sarah Schaffer is the Founder & CEO of Bond Studios, an independent creative agency specializing in content development, editorial design, and brand marketing. Bond Studios uses journalistic principles and rock-solid news judgment to create topical, timely and compelling stories for businesses and nonprofits. Sarah is a veteran of the journalism, publishing and advertising worlds, and has reported front-page stories for newspapers and wire services, built A-teams and founded content studios for major agencies, helmed the masthead at glossy magazines and launched products and award-winning campaigns for Fortune 500s, iconic attractions and leading museums.
Lynn Stack
Lynn Stack is a marketing communications specialist and writer with an aptitude for bridging strategic thinking and creative expression. She provides innovative solutions for corporate and nonprofit clients across a diversity of sectors, and is currently co-producer of the documentary series, “True North™, Honest Stories of Finding Home.” Lynn began her career in New York’s publishing industry, holding positions at Scientific American and various Hearst and Condé Nast magazines. She later developed radio and cable TV promotional campaigns for Group W Satellite Communications before serving as Communications Director at Waters Design Associates, where she contributed to the development of a proprietary web-based initiative for IBM. As Associate Creative Director at Brann Worldwide, Lynn created acquisition and retention programs for technology, financial services and pharmaceutical clients. Dedicated to supporting local communities and the environment, her articles have appeared in regional magazines and news outlets. Lynn has two daughters, and resides in Annapolis with her husband and two dogs.
