Join Friends of Quiet Waters Park and Park Rangers to remove invasive species. Invaders such as English Ivy, Wisteria, and Honeysuckle are taking over parts of the park. These non-native species take nutrients from native plants and eventually strangle and kill the trees.

This effort is part of a multi-year program to remove the invaders.

All are welcome at this family-friendly event. Bring gloves, loppers and bug spray.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works has released plans to develop a portion of Quiet Waters Park into a Paddling & Rowing Facility.  A virtual public meeting has been scheduled to present and discuss the proposal.

The design shows two boardwalks off the main paved path behind the Holly Pavilion (nearest to the concert stage), crossing the upland and wetland areas leading to an approximately 250’ long dock extending into the cove.

friends of quiet waters park logoFriends of Quiet Waters Park has expressed these objections to the project:

  • Environmental impacts to wetlands, submerged vegetation in the cove off Harness Creek upland area and bird habitat due to the removal of more than 29 trees.
  • Inconsistency with the Master Plan which called for minimum shoreline disturbance within the Critical Area Boundary and a focus on passive recreation at the park
  • Multiple user conflicts within the park as it would cross both the existing paved and unpaved trails and to the Harness Creek users
  • Traffic and parking concerns conflicting with existing events and use of the Holly Pavilion
