Webinar: Throwing Shade: Heat Islands, Public Health, and Clean Water
January 22, 2020 at 7:00 am - 8:00 am
Cities like Richmond, Norfolk, and Washington, D.C. are full of asphalt parking lots, roads, and brick buildings whose hard, dark surfaces absorb the sun’s heat. With trapped heat and less trees and green spaces, these cities get hot. Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Dr. Jeremy Hoffman, Chief Scientist of the Science Museum of Virginia, as he discusses his research on the urban heat island effect and recommendations on how policymakers can both improve the health of city residents while reducing polluted runoff by “throwing shade.” Time will be available to ask questions.
It you can’t make the live webinar register anyway and CBF will let you know how to access the webinar recording afterward.
