Meet Naturalist Aldo Leopold

maryland natural history societyThe Maryland Natural History Society presents a talk about Aldo Leopold, considered by many to be the father of wildlife ecology and the United States’ wilderness system. He was a conservationist, forester, philosopher, educator, writer, and outdoor enthusiast. Among his best-known ideas is the “land ethic,” which calls for an ethical, caring relationship between people and nature.

sand county almanacJoin Peggy Eppig, the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation, Maryland State Leopold Education Project Coordinator, to get to know Leopold through his words, A Sand County Almanac, historical interpretation through select parts of GreenFire, a full-length documentary about Leopold’s life, and how his ideals of a Land Ethic were adopted early in several counties of Maryland.

It is recommended, but not required, to read A Sand County Almanac prior to the program. Zoom information will be sent upon registration. Questions: bstrong@maryland.nature.org.
